As an aquatic biologist who loves illustrating my observations of the world, I hope to connect people to the importance of environmental conservation.

Bio
Hey there! I'm Anna. I recently moved from the humid summers of the Mississippi Delta to the rugged landscapes of Montana, where I now work for the Department of Environmental Quality. My path to the Rockies was paved by a deep-seated fascination with aquatic life, starting on the West Coast and Costa Rica, leading to multiple degress in Biology. Before moving back west, I spent years immersed in the rivers of the Mid-South, researching agricultural toxicants, climate smart water conservation strategies, and advocating for 'faceless fauna' like freshwater mussels and fish most people have never heard of. Scuba diving in rivers throughout Texas, Arkansas, and Mexico for this research was a total thrill—almost like a hunt for buried treasure!
Today, I’ve traded my river scuba gear for fly rods and horse trailers. When I’m not at the DEQ, you'll find me mountain biking, clearing trails with Lewis & Clark Back Country Horsemen, or practicing scientific illustration with watercolors. I share my Montana life with my husband Mitch, our dog Nova, cat Skye, and our horses Sweetie and Luna.
Let's connect!
